The combination of Talalay latex and coils in this hybrid allows for lift and give in all the right places, especially for folks who need more support like stomach sleepers or heavyweight sleepers. What’s the Saatva Latex Hybrid Made Of?
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is 12 inches tall and composed of five layers. First is a Euro top surface made with hypoallergenic materials that are both breathable and soft. Underneath, there’s an organic wool layer that provides extra breathability while also acting as a natural fire retardant.
The Talalay latex layer is 3 inches thick and split into five zones that target specific parts of the body, especially the lumbar region. The coil unit underneath has individually wrapped coils that aim to respond to your movement and promote motion isolation. Both these layers also encourage airflow.
Finally, the bed sits on a sturdy base of organic cotton and wool, ensuring that it stays stable and lasts a long time.
My Take: I myself am a stomach sleeper, and I was really happy with the zoned support the Saatva Hybrid Latex offered me. My lower back and hips felt held aloft. No sinking, no back pain. To stomach sleepers, beds can often feel too soft or too firm, but this was just right.
What I Liked
- A pressure-relief star – I call this bed a “jello mold,” since it surrounds your body and conforms to your shape nicely. It makes for excellent pressure relief.
- White glove delivery – Saatva offers free white glove delivery on all of their mattresses. They’ll set everything up for you hassle-free, and even get rid of your old mattress at no extra charge.
Potential Drawbacks
- Poor motion isolation – The Saatva Latex Hybrid is pretty bouncy, but that comes at a price. I found that this bed didn’t stifle movement as much as I’d like, so I wouldn’t recommend it for couples who are light sleepers.
- Too firm for some – The Saatva Latex Hybrid is responsive and supportive, but might not cushion as well as typical memory foam options. Lightweight side sleepers especially may find this bed too hard for their needs.

In the center of the mattress lies the 6-inch coil unit. Individually wrapped coils react to your movements to keep you lifted throughout the night.
My Take: The Plank Firm Natural is a flippable mattress, which means that you can sleep on the top or the bottom of the bed, depending on what firmness you like to maintain support on both sides of the bed. Choose between medium-firm for a middle-of-the-road feel or something stiffer on the firm side.
What I Liked
- Keeps you aligned – The Plank Firm Natural’s firmness (on both sides) should translate into top-notch support for your back and spine.

- Has a smell – During testing, I noticed that the Plank Firm Natural had a strong earthy odor. It’s not the chemical smell you’d get from a foam mattress, but it’s a little overpowering.

What’s the EcoCloud Made Of?
Stuart lovingly dubbed this bed a “freakin’ skyscraper,” since it’s a hefty 12.5 inches thick. Four layers stack up to reach that height: a cover, two latex layers, and an innerspring support system.
The cover is made from 100% organic cotton and sustainably sourced New Zealand wool. It’s breathable and protective, ensuring you stay cool while your mattress stays clean.
The 4-inch latex layer is composed of two textured sheets of Talalay latex, a naturally breathable material that will stay temperature-neutral throughout the night. Its hypoallergenic properties also prevent microbes and dust mites from disturbing a healthy night’s rest. Stuart said this layer helped “ease [his] body weight into the coils” below.
Finally, the innerspring layer provides pushback to support you throughout the night. Made from recycled steel, these springs are divided into 5 zones that target specific areas of the body. Firmer coils around the perimeter give the EcoCloud its great edge support.

What We Liked
- Eco-friendly – The EcoCloud lives up to its name with organic and hypoallergenic components, to which I give two green thumbs up! It comes with a number of certifications that ensure high-quality, earth-friendly materials and ethical construction.
- Bouncy feel – If you’re someone who moves around in your sleep, you don’t want to end up feeling “stuck” in your mattress. Since Stuart found “a lot of bounce in this bed,” that shouldn’t be a problem. Combination sleepers should be able to toss and turn to their heart’s content.
- Affordable luxury sleep – When compared to similarly constructed luxury beds, the EcoCloud comes in at a more affordable price. You’ll get the most bang for your buck without sacrificing comfort, sustainability, or durability.
Potential Drawbacks
- Not great for foam lovers – If you like to be swaddled by your mattress, look elsewhere. After testing the EcoCloud, Stuart decided that “we’re not quite at a hug-level yet.”
- Some motion transfer – Light sleepers need stellar motion isolation so they won’t get woken up by partners or pets in the bed with them. The EcoCloud did okay during our motion transfer test, but we still saw some movement.

- Bouncy surface – As I said above, this bed has amazing responsiveness. We have the two layers of latex to thank for that—they make sure you never sink into the bed as you move.
- Great edge support – When I laid down on this mattress, I felt like I was held within it. The edges should hold up even if you sit directly on top of them.
Potential Drawbacks
- Not enough pressure relief for side sleepers – Laying down on my side, I felt some pressure buildup around the hips. If you’re a side-sleeper seeking relief for your joints, memory foam might be a better fit.
- May be too firm for some – I personally ranked this bed as a 7.5/10 on the firmness scale, placing it on the firmer side. Its pillow top and overall bounciness keep it from feeling like a rock, but be aware if you tend to prefer plusher mattresses.
