Who I’d Recommend the DreamCloud For

  • Hot sleepers – The DreamCloud mattress features gel memory foam that draws your body heat away from you, which helps keep the bed surface cool. In addition, it has coils that further help with breathability.

  • Side sleepers – This bed is rated 5.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, which means it feels a bit softer, especially for people sleeping on the side since most of their weight is concentrated across a narrow surface.

  • Lightweight people – People who weigh under 130 pounds should find the DreamCloud comfortable as it feels softer and has a comfortable soft foam stitched into the cover.

Who I’d Recommend the DreamCloud Premier For

  • Luxury fans – People shopping for a luxury feel should like the Premier’s two Euro tops. The first is the Euro top cradle layer, while the second is the Euro top support layer. The first Euro top cradles your body, while the second gives you an extra dose of plushness for that luxurious feel.

  • Average-weight sleepers – This bed is also ranked as a 5.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, but it’s better suited for average-weight people thanks to its Euro top support layer. This one offers some pushback support before you reach the transition layer underneath.

  • Those with pressure build-up – Those with pressure build-up should like the soft cradle the two Euro tops provide. The high-loft memory foam hugs the body just enough to relieve the pressure in the knees, hips, and shoulders.

Comparing DreamCloud vs. DreamCloud Premier: Key Similarities

  • The height – The DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier are both 14 inches tall, which places them in the sweet spot as far as height options go. This is ideal for most mattress foundations and bedroom setups as it’s not too tall or too thin.
  • The firmness – We rated both of these mattresses a 5.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, which makes them good for lightweight and average-weight back and side sleepers.
  • Trial and warranty – DreamCloud offers a lifetime warranty and a 365-night trial with both the DreamCloud Premier and their flagship model.

Comparing DreamCloud vs. DreamCloud Premier: Key Differences

  • The Price – The DreamCloud Premier is slightly more expensive than the DreamCloud mattress, likely due to the luxurious Euro top.
  • Euro top – Speaking of the Premier’s Euro top, the DreamCloud Premier has a Euro top made of two layers. The first is a more cradling layer, while the second is more supportive to prevent your body from sinking too deeply.
  • The number of layers – The Premier has five layers, whereas the DreamCloud only has four. Both beds have a top and bottom cover and are of the same height, but the Premier has an extra layer.

Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel

Firmness

We rate beds on a scale of one to ten, with one being the softest and ten being the firmest. The DreamCloud mattress and the DreamCloud Premier are both rated 5.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale

Because of this both beds give off the same feel. Back and side sleepers, especially those weighing between 130 and 230 pounds, should like either of the two beds. But despite having coils, either mattress is likely too soft for stomach sleepers and anyone heavier than 230 pounds.

Support

DreamCloud included a sturdy coil unit in both the DreamCloud mattress and the Premier. Both beds have 8.5-inch coils and coils in the perimeter. This provides additional airflow along with support along the edges, which is especially important for couples and single sleepers who like to spread out.

Both beds also have dynamic transitional layers, but the Premier has an extra .5 inches of foam.

Feel

The Premier feels plush and soft when you first lie on it. The Euro top hugs the body, conforming to your body without trapping you. You won’t feel much bounce, but this shouldn’t create trouble with getting in and out of bed.

The DreamCloud has a cashmere top that eases you into the foam lying underneath. The flagship model feels equally as soft, but the top may not be as plush as in the Premier.

Comparing Sinkage and Bounce

Since both the DreamCloud and Premier mattresses have the same firmness and similar feel, it’s easy to guess they’ll have similar bounce and sinkage. Both beds allow just enough sinkage to prevent pressure build-up and relieve tension in the shoulders, hips, and knees. The beds are designed to cradle the body without letting you sink too deeply.

When it comes to bounce, it’s important to note that the Premier does lack bounce. Although both have the same firmness and relatively the same coil unit, the DreamCloud mattress offers more bounce, so it may be more suitable for couples.

Comparing Motion Transfer

Although both DreamCloud mattresses are hybrids with coils, they don’t have much bounce. In addition, both beds have multiple foam layers above the coils, which helps absorb movement so that it doesn’t transfer from one side to the other.

Another thing that helps reduce motion transfer is the way the coils are designed. The coils are individually-wrapped, which sets these mattresses apart from other innerspring models. Because they’re individually-wrapped, the coils move independently, meaning you won’t feel movement on one side or the other. The wrapping dampens the movement, making both beds good for partners with different sleeping habits.

Comparing Cooling

Hybrid mattresses are naturally more breathable than all-foam beds, so both the flagship model and the Premier should perform well in this department. The coils allow plenty of airflow to prevent the foams from overheating.

Both beds have gel infusion in the memory foam layers, making them a good option for hot sleepers. The gel infusion helps draw the heat away from your body so that the bed surface doesn’t overheat. However, significantly hot sleepers who struggle with hot flashes may want an entirely different mattress with more cooling features.

Comparing Construction (Materials & Quality)

DreamCloud Construction

The DreamCloud mattress is 14 inches tall. The construction starts with a cashmere cover that gives off a luxury feel. The cover has a cloud pattern and durable stitching, enhancing its durability and quality-looking design.

  • The first layer under the cover is a 1.5-inch layer of soft foam. This is stitched to the cover, which provides a plush feel when you first lie on the mattress.
  • The comfort layer is an inch of gel-infused memory foam that contours your body and relieves pressure in the hips, knees, and shoulders.
  • The dynamic transition layer is a 2-inch standard foam that eases you into the coil unit.
  • The support layer features 8.5-inch coils individually-wrapped to prevent motion transfer.
  • The stability layer is an inch of standard foam that supports the upper layers and adds to the bed’s durability.

DreamCloud Premier Construction

DreamCloud Premier has a cashmere blend cover with two layers of foam quilted to it. This is the bed’s Euro top. This bed is 14 inches tall and has five layers between two covers.

  • The Euro top Cradle Layer stands under the cashmere cover. This layer is made from an inch of high-loft memory foam.
  • Next is the Euro top Support Layer, which is made from an inch of soft foam that supports the body, giving the upper layer some added plushness.
  • The Dynamic Transition Layer comes next, featuring 2.5 inches of foam. This keeps the spine aligned and prevents the hips from sinking in, easing you into the coils underneath.
  • The coil unit is 8.5 inches thick, featuring both inner and perimeter coils. This gives the bed excellent lumbar support, edge-to-edge support, and additional airflow.
  • The base layer is made from 1-inch foam that provides stability to the upper layers.

Final Thoughts

Which of these beds do you think would fit your needs the best? The DreamCloud mattress and the Premier have quite a few similarities, especially thanks to the fact they come from the same company. This means the same warranty and trial deals.

However, it’s important to note that the Premier is slightly more expensive. In addition, it lacks the bounce you can find in the flagship model. Both beds have good edge support and exceptional motion isolation, so you can’t go wrong with either if this is what you care about.
