Why TEMPUR-Cloud® Earned Best Deal on a Tempur-Pedic Mattress for Side Sleepers
Tempur-Pedic mattresses might be a side sleeper’s dream, but many people are scared off by their price tags. I look at the TEMPUR-Cloud® as the most accessible and affordable mattress in their lineup—it’s the bed to buy if you’re committed to trying out the legendary Tempur® foams, but want to stick to a budget.
Of course, it’s also an excellent option for side sleepers who struggle with pressure build-up. It’s available in an all-foam and a hybrid model, and we’ve tested both. They feel largely the same, though the hybrid version would be a better fit for plus-size sleepers and has improved edge support.
What’s the TEMPUR-Cloud® Made Of?
This mattress is available in all-foam and hybrid versions, so shoppers can choose the construction that fits their preferences best. Both versions of the mattress are 10 inches tall.
The all-foam TEMPUR-Cloud® has a 360° stretch cover that’s moisture-wicking and breathable. The comfort layer is made from soft and responsive Tempur® material that adapts to your body. Next comes the support layer made from the same proprietary material, but with a firmer feel. The final base layer is made of sturdy and durable foam, enhancing the overall longevity of the bed.
The hybrid version has the same layers, plus a spring unit for added support. The coils are individually wrapped to improve motion isolation and ease of movement.
What I Liked
- Convenient price and delivery – The TEMPUR-Cloud® line is the least expensive off Tempur-Pedic’s offerings, and it’s delivered to you compressed in a box for easy setup.
- You’ll hardly feel any motion transfer – Even when I was jumping around on top of this bed, we registered barely any motion transfer during testing. My fellow tester, Emma, agreed: “As far as motion isolation goes, you can’t get much better than the TEMPUR-Cloud®. We felt practically no movement on the other side of the bed. Light sleepers rejoice!”
Potential Drawbacks
- Not very responsive – The TEMPUR-Cloud® feels pretty squishy, and the foams are slow to reform once you’ve pressed into them. Combination sleepers may feel stuck in this bed when they try to change position.
- No cooling factor – These materials are advanced, but they’re still susceptible to the most common pitfall of memory foam: overheating. If you sleep very hot, this bed likely won’t cool you down.
Customer Reviews of the TEMPUR-Cloud
The Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud rates 4.5 stars out of 5 on Tempur-Pedic’s website. Customers admire the Tempurpedic Tempur-CLOUD for its exceptional pressure relief and body-conforming memory foam, but some find its lack of edge support to be a disadvantage.

Why the TEMPUR-Adapt® Earned Best Tempur-Pedic Mattress for Side Sleepers with Back Pain
In comparing the Tempur-Pedic mattresses we’ve tested, Lead Reviewer Loren and I determined that the TEMPUR-Adapt® line was the best for back pain (and other kinds of pain relief). The reason why is in the name: the TEMPUR-Adapt® is amazingly versatile, and can respond to the shape and weight of your body so thoroughly that it works for almost any sleeping position.
Overall, it has a medium-firm feel that gives achy backs the support they need along with enough cushioning for side sleepers. It’s available as an all-foam bed or a hybrid, though you’ll shell out a bit more dough for those coils.
What’s the TEMPUR-Adapt® Made Of?
Both the foam and hybrid versions of this bed are 11 inches tall. The upper comfort layer is made of TEMPUR-ES® material, a variant on the traditional Tempur foam that feels more cozy and plush.
Underneath is a support layer of that original TEMPUR® Material. This layer reacts to your unique silhouette, cradling pressure points while boosting areas that need some lift.
In the hybrid model, this support layer is followed by an innerspring unit made of individually wrapped coils. The springs bolster the edges of the bed and enhance the support it can provide.
What I Liked
- Broad appeal – Both the hybrid and all-foam models of this bed have a medium-firm feel that strikes a good middle ground. Most sleepers and sleeping positions should gel well with it.
- Soft on top, supportive on the bottom – The plush TEMPUR-ES® material at the top of the mattress feels heavenly, while the signature TEMPUR® Material beneath lends the bed its contouring powers and spine-aligning support.
Potential Drawbacks
- Holds onto heat – Though the cover of this bed assists with cooling, we weren’t actively cooled by the foams underneath.
- Basic construction – The Adapt® is the most bare-bones version in its line, which also includes the ProAdapt® and LuxeAdapt®. These latter two beds contain even more Tempur® Material for a luxurious upgrade.
Customer Reviews of the TEMPUR-Adapt
Customers on the Tempur-Pedic website rate the TEMPUR-Adapt a 4.5 out of 5 stars. One negative aspect of the TEMPUR-Adapt mattress, as reported by some customers, is its relatively high price, while a notable pro mentioned by customers is its exceptional pressure-relieving comfort.

Why the TEMPUR-ProBreeze® Earned Best Cooling Tempur-Pedic Mattress for Side Sleepers
We’ve established that Tempur-Pedic mattresses are a match made in pressure-relief heaven for side sleepers. But there’s always that one pesky drawback: heat can build up in the foam layers, leaving some sleepers sweaty and uncomfortable.
The Tempur-Breeze® line was created to address this problem, and boy, does it ever. The foams in this mattress still mold around your body and take the tension off your hips and shoulders, but unlike almost every other foam material out there, they also banish heat from the get-go.
What’s the TEMPUR-ProBreeze® Made Of?
The TEMPUR-ProBreeze® is 12 inches tall and available in two constructions: an all-foam model, and a hybrid model.
The mattress begins with a SmartClimate® Cover. The fibers inside it siphon unwanted heat away from your body, and it feels noticeably cool when you touch it. Underneath is a “Heat-Diffusing Layer” that also redirects warmth.
The first comfort layer is made of Pure Cool® Material—a proprietary foam that likewise absorbs heat to keep the temperature comfortable. It’s followed by a thicker layer of Ventilated Advanced Relief™ Material, which has channels cut into it for enhanced airflow.
The hybrid version of the bed also includes an innerspring unit for added support.
What I Liked
- Cools you down like magic – Lots of mattresses make cooling claims, but the TEMPUR-ProBreeze® is one of very few that actually felt cool all throughout testing. Just touching its specialized, chilled-out cover was enough to convince me that this bed was on another level when it comes to temperature regulation.
- You can feel the foams adapt – When you first lie down on this bed, it feels a bit firm. But then the foams actively begin to contour to your body, and the entire feel of the mattress shifts toward a softer, more pressure-relieving hug. It’s a really cool (pardon the pun) experience!
Potential Drawbacks
- Pricey – Sticker shock is likely with this line of mattresses—they’re Tempur-Pedic’s most luxurious options. But if you’re looking for top-of-the-line cooling materials, you’ll want to make the investment.
- Doesn’t spring back fast – These foams are high-tech, but they aren’t super responsive. I don’t really recommend this bed for combination sleepers who shift positions a lot, because you’re liable to feel like your movement is restricted.
Customer Reviews of the TEMPUR-ProBreeze
On the Tempur-pedic website, TEMPUR-ProBreeze mattress is rated 4.4 out of 5 stars. Customers value the Tempurpedic TEMPUR-ProBreeze mattress for its excellent cooling properties and pressure relief, but some report that it’s quite firm, which may not suit all sleep preferences.

What Mattress Features are Important for Side Sleepers?
Side sleeping is a popular position because it’s comfortable, good for back pain, and can help reduce snoring1. However, side sleepers require specific qualities in a mattress to achieve the comfort, support, and pressure relief needed for a good night’s sleep.
Contouring
A contouring mattress adapts to the body in all sleeping positions. However, it’s a crucial feature for side sleepers because it provides pressure relief. A contouring mattress allows your shoulders and hips to sink a bit while still supporting the spine. This way, your body is in a healthy alignment and you’re less likely to wake up with pressure buildup.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief is one of the most important qualities side sleepers should look for. This sleeping position is comfortable, but only if you have the right mattress.
A bed that’s too firm is likely to cause pressure buildup in the shoulders, hips, and knees. With this in mind, the best way to relieve the pressure is to look for a softer bed that cradles your body’s curves.
Read more about mattresses for pressure relief.
Support
A supportive mattress makes all the difference regarding back and neck pain. High-density foam and strong coils can offer sufficient support for proper spine alignment, which should help reduce pain. Side sleepers typically need beds that maintain support but aren’t so firm that they sacrifice vital pressure relief. The best way to find a middle ground is to go for a mid-range firmness, though this will also depend on your weight since lightweight sleepers may want something softer than this.
Firmness
Firmness, which is how soft or hard a bed feels, is an important factor when buying a mattress for side sleeping. As mentioned, softer beds are more suitable for side sleepers because of the pressure relief they offer. However, these may lack the support needed to relieve back and neck pain, particularly for those who carry more weight.
Side sleepers struggling with back pain should consider beds with a medium firmness to keep the spine aligned. These beds are typically supportive but still soft enough to prevent pressure buildup.
If you want to learn more, make sure to check out our mattress firmness guide.
Price
The price of mattresses for side sleepers depends on the particular model. Some brands are more expensive than others, depending on the materials and constructions they use.
For example, Tempur-Pedic is a high-end brand with slightly more expensive foam mattresses. The price is due to the overall quality of these mattresses, which includes high-end materials and proprietary technology incorporated in each mattress.
Type of Material
Tempur-Pedic makes foam and hybrid mattresses, but what stands out the most is the Tempur® material. Tempur® has an open cellular structure that adapts to your shape, weight, and temperature.
Your body temperature makes the material softer, which helps absorb pressure in the shoulders, hips, and knees. Plus, the material has good motion isolation, so it’s good for couples.
Material Quality & Durability
Material quality is going to determine the overall durability of your mattress. Tempur-Pedic uses proprietary materials known to last a long time with regular use. As such, these mattresses last six to eight years on average, and more expensive Tempur-Pedic beds should last up to 10 years. On top of that, the company offers a 10-year warranty on all its mattresses, replacing and repairing any bed with a manufacturing defect.
Edge Support
Foam beds don’t usually have as good edge support as innerspring and hybrid beds. However, some foam beds are better than others, featuring higher-density foam along the perimeter. This should allow sleepers to spread out across the entire surface of the bed without falling off the edge.
Tempur-Pedic medium and firm models tend to have better edge support than soft ones.
Cooling
Cooling features are important for memory foam mattresses because the material is known to overheat, whereas coils naturally foster more airflow. Many brands use gel or copper infusions to keep the heat at bay so you’re not sweating through the night. However, not all foam has cooling properties, so this is something to look for if you’re a hot sleeper.
While many Tempur-Pedic beds prioritize cooling, the TEMPUR-breeze° will likely be best for extra-hot sleepers.
Other Factors for Side Sleepers to Consider
Side sleepers should focus on pressure relief and contouring to relieve hip and shoulder pain. Body weight and pelvic rotation are also critical for side sleepers looking for quality sleep. Here’s why these things matter.
Hip Pain
Hip pain is common among side sleepers because most of the sleeper’s weight focuses on a smaller area. If your mattress is too firm, you may wake up with hip pain because there’s not enough contouring. As a result, pressure builds up in the hips, making it difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position. The best way to avoid this is to get a softer mattress or a topper to modify the firmness of your existing bed.
Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain happens for the same reasons as hip pain. Your bed may be too firm to allow contouring. A good way to battle this is to get a softer mattress that contours to your body, preventing the pressure from accumulating in the shoulders for a more comfortable night’s sleep.
Read More: Best Mattress for Hip and Shoulder Pain
Body Weight
As mentioned, most of your weight focuses on a small surface when you sleep on your side. This may feel comfortable but makes it easy to create pressure points in the hips, shoulders, and knees. A good way to avoid it is by getting a memory foam mattress that contours your body, offering gentle cradling for these sensitive areas.
Heavyweight side sleepers may want a mid-range firmness, so the body doesn’t sink into the mattress too much. Lightweight sleepers should benefit from a softer bed that doesn’t need much weight to activate the upper layers.
Read More: Best Mattress for Heavy People
Pelvic Rotation
Pelvic rotation is when the front of your pelvis is rotated towards the floor. Although it’s not a terrible condition, it can create an arch in your lower back that may lead to pain. If your pelvis is constantly in this position, you probably won’t feel uncomfortable while sleeping on your side. That said, side sleepers with rotated pelvis should look for a softer mattress and possibly a body pillow to help relieve tension.
Are Tempur-Pedic Mattresses Good for Side Sleepers?
Yes, I think Tempur-Pedic mattresses are great for side sleepers. The company offers multiple models with variable firmness levels to accommodate different body types, and every Tempur-Pedic mattress has the brand’s proprietary memory foam, which contours your body to prevent pressure buildup when you sleep on the side.
Additionally, their softest models, such as those in the TEMPUR-Adapt® collection, are made for advanced pressure relief, which many side sleepers should benefit from.
What Are Tempur-Pedic Mattresses Made Of?
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are made from the brand’s exclusive TEMPUR® foam. At first glance, this foam is similar to memory foam. The material is dense, responsive, and contouring, but it’s also designed to react to heat and pressure.
TEMPUR® foam can only be found in Tempur-Pedic products. This patented material is a form of viscoelastic polyurethane foam that’s designed to adapt to your body regardless of your preferred sleep position. However, it’s particularly suitable for side sleepers as it prevents pressure from building up in the hips, shoulders, and knees.

FAQs
Where can you buy a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are available on the brand’s official website, where you can also find more information about each mattress, its features, and its price. However, the brand also sells through retailers all over the United States, making it easier to see and test mattresses on-site.
How do you wash a Tempur-Pedic mattress cover?
Most Tempur-Pedic mattresses have a removable and washable cover. However, you should always refer to the tag sewn into the cover to ensure it’s removable and safe to wash. Most covers are machine-washable, but you should only use a cold temperature setting. The same goes for machine drying, although air drying is best.
What’s the average lifespan of a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
Most Tempur-Pedic mattresses should last six to 10 years, depending on the model and how you use it. Jumping on the bed will likely shorten its lifespan regardless of the model you get. In most cases, it takes about six years before you notice it may be time to replace your Tempur-Pedic mattress.
How much do Tempur-Pedic mattresses cost?
Tempur-Pedic makes several mattresses priced differently, so there’s a bed for everyone’s budget. Of course, a larger size and a more advanced design will incur a higher price. For Queen-size Tempur-Pedic beds, the price ranges from 2,000 to over 5,000 dollars, depending on the collection you’re interested in. The TEMPUR-Breeze® line is the most expensive one.
