Memory foam beds and hybrids definitely deliver different feels, but which is right for you? We’ll go over our findings on these two products to help you make that decision.

Comparing Nectar vs. Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid: Top Similarities

• Firmness – Both the Nectar and Signature Hybrid have similar firmness, with medium-firm and medium feels respectively. This makes them suitable for similar types of sleepers. We think light to average-weight side and back sleepers, and lightweight stomach sleepers, will get the most out of these mattresses.
• Motion isolation – Both beds performed well in motion isolation tests. While there was a little more movement detected on the Brooklyn hybrid, we think most sleepers should find themselves undisturbed on either bed, even if their partner is tossing and turning.
• Affordability – The Nectar and Signature Hybrid are very similar in price, and we consider both products to offer exceptional value to consumers.

Comparing Nectar vs. Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid: Key Differences

• Warranty – If you’re looking for a bed that lasts, you may feel more at ease purchasing one with a lifetime warranty, which covers manufacturing defects for the entire time you own it. The Signature Hybrid has a 10-year warranty, while the Nectar has a much longer Forever warranty.
• Bounce – With its springy coil unit, the Signature Hybrid offered a good amount of bounce, especially compared to the Nectar, which has minimal bounce. The hybrid may appeal to those with mobility issues, combination sleepers, and couples who prefer a bouncier mattress for sex. 
• Edge support – As expected, we found the Signature Hybrid offered better edge support than the all-foam Nectar as it contains coils, which secure the perimeter. This means you can sleep right up to the bed’s edges, which may appeal to couples.

Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel 

Firmness 

Our firmness scale goes from 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest. The Signature Hybrid comes in Soft, Medium, and Firm comfort options, but we’ve reviewed the Medium, which is a 6, making it a true medium. 

The all-foam Nectar felt slightly firmer, placing at 6.5 on our scale, which is medium-firm.  Beds in the medium range tend to be suitable for a wider range of sleepers and are also great for couples. 

Support 

Despite their differing constructions, we think both beds suit similar types of sleepers. Our testers reported that light to average-weight back and side sleepers, and lightweight stomach sleepers should all be able to find the support they need from both the Nectar’s adaptive foams and the Signature Hybrid’s responsive coil unit. Heavier individuals will find better support from a firmer mattress, like the Signature Hybrid’s Firm option. 

Feel 

While testing the Signature Hybrid, Emma really liked the quilted cover, which feels quite plush. This bed left us feeling more ‘on top of’ the mattress than ‘in’ it, which we felt compromised pressure relief.  “It has an innerspring feel and the foams on the top aren’t the best at relieving pressure,” shared Emma. 

Those looking for a more traditional memory foam feel may prefer the Nectar. Sleep Advisor’s lead tester, Julia, thought that the bed’s surface offered a great balance of pressure relief and support. 

Comparing Sinkage and Bounce 

 The Nectar’s all-foam design offers more of a deep hug than the Signature Hybrid, which we experienced a gentle cradle on. Emma shared that she felt like the bed was lifting her up, which may be a preference for some back sleepers. 

Side sleepers may prefer the deeper sinkage of the Nectar. “With the topmost layers made for pressure relief and responsiveness, I really like how the Nectar molds around the body,” said Julia.

As expected, the hybrid has more bounce, which makes it easier to reposition. However, while the Nectar isn’t bouncy, it still has responsive foam layers, which don’t trap you in the foam.

Comparing Motion Transfer 

“Hybrids usually perform pretty average when it comes to motion transfer, but we were surprised at how well Brooklyn’s Signature Hybrid isolated motion, especially for how responsive it is,” Emma reported. “Couples shouldn’t be bothered by movements across the bed unless they’re really sensitive and super light sleepers.” 

The Nectar had slightly less motion transfer, which is to be expected of an all-foam construction. “Since the Nectar’s layers are pretty dense, they’re able to stifle the feeling of motion pretty well,” Julia noted. We think most couples should be able to sleep soundly on either bed, without being disturbed by their partner. 

Comparing Cooling

Both beds offer a couple of cooling features. The Nectar has a heat-wicking cover and gel-infused foam in the top layer, while the Signature Hybrid has a breathable cover and a coil unit that allows for airflow. 

That said, while many sleepers will remain at a comfortable temperature, we wouldn’t recommend either bed for hot sleepers. “The cover doesn’t stay cool to the touch and the gel foam layer doesn’t feel like it’s regulating temperature,” Julia noted while reviewing the Nectar. Of the Signature Hybrid, Mark said, “Overall for most people, I think this mattress is going to work out well, though some sleepers may find it a bit hot.” 

Comparing Construction (Materials & Quality)

Nectar Construction

The 12-inch Nectar is an all-foam setup that is roll-packed into a box. 

The core is wrapped in a breathable poly-blend cover, which contains fibers that are designed to wick away excess heat to help regulate body temperature.  

• The top layer is built with 2 inches of gel-infused memory foam which cradles the body in a deep hug and melts away pressure. The infusion of gel is designed to help it sleep cooler than traditional memory foam. 
• The second layer has 3 inches of soft conventional foam, making up the dynamic transition layer. It’s slightly firmer than the top layer, for optimum support and is more responsive. This foam helps the body transition into the firmer base.
• The third layer has 7 inches of standard conventional foam. This layer supports spine alignment while providing a firm and durable foundation.
• A shift-resistant lower cover helps keep everything in place. 

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Construction

We’re breaking down the construction of the Medium model of this 12.25-inch tall hybrid, though it also comes in Soft and Firm options. The bed’s breathable, moisture-wicking cover is made from a blend of cotton and polyester. You also have the option of upgrading to a GlacioTex™  cooling cloud pillow top.

• Quilted to the cover is a 1.5-inch thick layer of poly foam that provides minimal sinkage.
• The comfort layer has 1.5 inches of Supreme Response Comfort Foam that adapts to your sleeping position to give you comfort and support where most needed.
• The transition layer features 1 inch of Variflex™ foam offering deep compression support, as well as gently lowering the sleeper into the innerspring unit.
• The coil unit makes up the support layer, made from up to 760 pocketed 8-inch Ascension® coils that offer motion isolation, contouring, and edge support.
• A base layer of .25 inches of high-density foam provides structure for the entire bed. 

Comparing Company Policies & Price

Warranty – There’s a generous lifetime warranty with the Nectar and a shorter 10-year warranty with the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid. 

Shipping – Your bed will be compressed in a box and delivered to your door for free with both Nectar and Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid, although fees apply to customers in Alaska and Hawaii. The Brooklyn Signature Hybrid will also ship to Canada for a fee. Nectar provides a white glove delivery upgrade at additional cost but Brooklyn Bedding does not offer this service.

Trial Period – The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has a 120-night trial, while the Nectar has a longer 365-night trial.

Returns – You can return either bed after 30 days and within the trial period and you’ll receive a full refund, minus any shipping fees. However, you’ll be charged a 99-dollar return fee with the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid. 

Price – The Nectar is slightly more expensive than the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid in smaller sizes and a bit cheaper in larger sizes. However, both beds come at a really affordable price.

Both beds deliver great comfort and support, but there are a handful of nuanced differences that can help you decide between the two, depending on your preferences and needs.

Nectar’s classic memory feel at an excellent price may suit you best if you’re looking to sink into your bed for a cozy and restorative sleep.
