Who We Recommend The Sweetnight Twilight For:
- Stomach sleepers – This mattress is very firm, making it a good option for stomach sleepers. The lack of sinkage and innerspring base offer plenty of lower back support to maintain good spinal alignment.
- Average-weight sleepers – Average-weight sleepers will benefit the most from this mattress, especially those who sleep on their back or stomach.
- People with limited mobility – This mattress has a lot of bounce, which can help with moving around the bed. since sleepers should not feel ‘stuck’ in this mattress.
Who We Don’t Recommend The Sweetnight Twilight For:
- Side sleepers – Due to the firmness of this mattress, it will not be comfortable for side sleepers because there is not enough sinkage to relieve the pressure placed on the shoulder and hip.
- Lightweight sleepers – Lightweight sleepers will not sink into the mattress like average-weight or heavy sleepers, making the Twilight Hybrid feel even firmer. Lightweight sleepers will likely be uncomfortable in most sleeping positions.
- Memory foam fans – While this bed is a memory foam hybrid, the memory foam layer doesn’t really impact the bed’s overall feel. The Twilight Hybrid also contains dense foam and an innerspring base, making it feel more firm and bouncy. Read more about best memory foam mattresses here.
First Impressions: Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 7.5/10 (Slightly Firm to Firm)
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
Mattress firmness is a rating that’s used to describe how soft or firm a bed should feel for most sleepers, though there is some variation for those who are exceptionally lightweight or heavy. We rated the Twilight Hybrid at a 7.5 on our firmness scale, in which 10 is the firmest and 1 is cloud-like softness.
The average medium-firm mattress would fall around a 6.5 on this scale, making the Twilight Hybrid more firm than most mattresses. While this can be great for some, very petite people and many side sleepers may find it too firm for their taste.
How Does It Feel?
The Sweetnight Twilight Hybrid should feel very firm because of the innerspring base and dense foam in this bed. The Sweetnight also contains memory foam but only a thin layer intended to add some pressure relief. Despite that, this bed feels more firm and bouncy rather than plush and slow-moving.
The Twilight should be moderately comfortable for stomach and back sleepers, though some back sleepers may find it too firm. Side sleepers would likely find this mattress uncomfortable because of the lack of pressure relief.
What We Like About the Sweetnight Twilight
- Affordable – The Twilight Hybrid sells for around 500 dollars for a Queen-size mattress. Compared to most other mattresses, this is very affordable.
- Height options – There are three height options available: 10-inch, 12-inch, and 14-inch. As such, it’s great for those who want more customization when mattress shopping.
- Amazon support – This mattress is covered by Amazon, both for shipping and product support, which should make it easier to track and process returns.
Our Sweetnight Twilight Complaints
- Too firm – The Twilight is very firm, making it a poor option for side sleepers, lightweight people, and some back sleepers.
- Limited size options – This mattress is currently offered in a range of sizes from Full to King and California King. However, there are no Twin or Twin XL sizes available at this time.
- Low durability – This is a budget mattress, so it may not last as long as other options out there. The estimated lifespan for this mattress is 5-7 years, whereas other beds may last up to 10 years or more.
Testing the Sweetnight Twilight Mattress: How it Performed
Each of our mattress reviews utilizes in-person testing to provide you with first-hand knowledge of who could be the best fit for a particular mattress. Not only do we look at performance-based features like support, pressure relief, cooling, and more, but we also experience how the bed feels in every sleep position.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
Each of our mattress reviews utilizes in-person testing to provide you with first-hand knowledge of who could be the best fit for a particular mattress. Not only do we look at performance-based features like support, pressure relief, cooling, and more, but we also experience how the bed feels in every sleep position.
Weight | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
---|---|---|---|
Lightweight Sleepers (-130 lbs) | ☆☆☆ | ☆☆☆ | ★★★ |
Average-Weight Sleepers (130-230 lbs) | ☆☆☆ | ★★☆ | ★★★ |
Heavyweight Sleepers (+230 lbs) | ☆☆☆ | ★★☆ | ★★☆ |
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight side sleepers will be uncomfortable on this mattress. The mattress is too firm, and there is insufficient sinkage or pressure relief where needed.
- Average Weight Sleepers – As with lightweight sleepers, we think average-weight side sleepers won’t be a good match with this firmer mattress.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavyweight sleepers will likely not feel comfortable on the Sweetnight Twilight as well and should instead opt for something more pressure-relieving.
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight sleepers will likely find this mattress is much too firm, even while sleeping on their backs.
- Average Weight Sleepers – Average-weight back sleepers closer to 230 pounds should get enough sinkage in this position, though people who weigh less than that will likely find it too firm.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavyweight back sleepers who weigh less than 280 pounds should enjoy proper support and spinal alignment on this mattress.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – While lightweight people may not feel comfortable on their side or back, we think they could enjoy the bed’s firmer feel for stomach sleeping.
- Average Weight Sleepers – Average-weight stomach sleepers should get plenty of support from this bed to help keep their lower back from dipping.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – While heavyweight stomach sleepers under 280 pounds should get good support, those who weigh more than this will likely want to get something more supportive for their body frame.
Pressure Relief & Pain
Pressure relief is needed to alleviate pain in pressure points throughout the night. The Twilight Hybrid is a very firm mattress with decent support, but there is little pressure relief with this bed.
The gel memory foam layer is intended to add some pressure relief, but the mattress remains too firm for some positions and body types. Side sleepers will likely experience excess pressure around the shoulder and hip, though most stomach and back sleepers should be comfortable.
Back Pain – This mattress should support the back and keep the spine aligned for both stomach and back sleepers.
Hip Pain – This mattress is too firm for side sleeping, which means there will be a lot of pressure felt around the hip in this position. This mattress would not be good for people with hip pain.
Shoulder Pain – As with hip pain, we think this bed is much too firm for anyone with shoulder pain.

Support
The Twilight Hybrid offers decent support, and Sweetnight claims in their Amazon answers that it was made for “heavy guys.” The construction of this mattress includes dense foams and an innerspring layer consisting of individually-wrapped steel-tempered coils.
While no weight limit was advertised on the site, we determined that this mattress is supportive enough for individuals weighing up to 280 pounds. The steel coils and dense foams should provide plenty of support for most individuals. People heavier than 280 pounds, though, may want to look for mattresses specifically made for heavyweight sleepers for better support and overall comfort.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer describes the amount of motion that is transferred from one side of the bed to the other. This occurs when co-sleepers toss and turn or get in and out of bed, and too much motion transfer can be bothersome for some folks. As such, many co-sleepers and couples look for beds that keep motion isolated to one side of the bed.
The Twilight Hybrid is very bouncy, and we found that it does not isolate motion well. Therefore, this mattress probably wouldn’t be a good option for people who sleep with a significant other, pets, or kids. If a co-sleeper tosses and turns, their movements would probably be felt on the opposite side of the bed.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
Beds with cooling capabilities are important for hot sleepers and people who live in warmer climates. The Twilight Hybrid boasts many features that should help to keep the mattress cool throughout the night. The primary cooling feature is the innerspring base, which should allow lots of airflow through it. This mattress also has gel infused into the memory foam layer and is topped with a breathable cover.
Performance for Couples
Couples sharing a mattress often have specific features that are important to them, including motion isolation, edge support, cooling, bounce, and compatibility with different sleeping positions.
The Twilight Hybrid is bouncy, which sexually-active partners may prefer, but this comes at the expense of poor motion isolation. If your partner tosses and turns or you have different sleep schedules, you may want to consider a mattress with better motion isolation.
We also rate this bed well for edge support, which means you and your partner can spread and sleep comfortably along the edges if need be. Along with multiple cooling features, this bed is also accommodating for stomach and back sleeping, though, if one partner is a side sleeper you’ll want a different mattress.
Preference-based Features
Adjustable Base Compatible
This mattress is compatible with various bases, including a foundation, slatted platform, box spring, adjustable base, bunkbed, or flat platform bed.
Edge Support
This mattress has good edge support, which may make it a good option for co-sleepers and couples who need extra usable surface space.
High Bounce
This mattress has a lot of bounce, which can help with mobility. This can be a desirable feature for people with low mobility or combination sleepers.
Multiple Height Options
Sweetnight offers three height options for this mattress: 10,12, or 14 inches. Sweetnight doesn’t offer a Full size in the 14-inch option, and the California King is only offered in the 14-inch model.
Construction: What’s Inside the Sweetnight Twilight?
To better understand the structure of the Twilight Hybrid, let’s look at each layer of this mattress, from the pillow-top cover to the bottom coil layer.
The Sweetnight Twilight Hybrid is a firm foam and coil hybrid mattress with three heights: 10-inch, 12-inch, or 14-inch. The cover of this bed is made from a knit fabric, tufted with foam to create a pillow-top feel. The construction listed below is for the 10-inch model, which is the focus of our review.
- Below the cover is a layer of Airflow High-Density Foam, which is firm, bouncy, and responsive. This layer is the primary comfort layer in this mattress.
- Moving further down you’ll find a layer made of gel memory foam. The gel infused into the memory foam should help to prevent heat from becoming trapped in this layer. While memory foam is known for its pressure-relieving capabilities, don’t expect much from this unit in the bed’s overall feel.
- Below the gel memory foam is another layer of Airflow High-Density Foam for added comfort and support.
- The support layer is made of individually-wrapped steel-tempered coils. This coil layer should provide plenty of support and airflow. This innerspring unit should add additional bounce, and the individual wrapping of the coils should lessen motion transfer a bit, though as we mentioned above, don’t expect much motion isolation overall.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Sweetnight Twilight Hybrid is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means that it arrives at your door in a box. When unboxing this mattress, you will want to leave it in a ventilated room for 24-72 hours to regain its shape.
While Sweetnight claims that the Twilight Hybrid is odor-free, we did notice some off-gassing when unboxing the mattress. However, it was a normal amount of odor for a typical bed-in-a-box mattress.
Certifications
- The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
Noteworthy Updates:
- More Heights Available – Sweetnight now offers a 14-inch option for the Twilight Hybrid, in addition to the 10 and 12-inch options that existed previously.

Overall Summary
The Twilight Hybrid is an affordable firm mattress that’s ideal for stomach sleepers.
Side Sleepers
1/5
The Twilight Hybrid is very firm and has minimal sinkage, which is not ideal for people who sleep on their side. Side sleepers will likely be uncomfortable on this mattress and will not receive the pressure relief needed in the shoulder and hip areas.
Back Sleepers
3/5
While this bed should work for some back sleepers, it’s still a pretty specific group. We think average-weight sleepers close to 230 pounds and then heavyweight sleepers below 280 pounds would be the ideal group for this bed, which leaves out those above and below this range. For this reason, it earned a 3 out of 5 for back sleepers.
Stomach Sleepers
5/5
This mattress is ideal for stomach sleepers, who will benefit the most from a firm mattress. The firmness, lack of sinkage, and support from the coils should all help keep their low back lifted for good spine alignment. The only exception would be heavyweight sleepers above 280 pounds, but since it works for most sleepers, it scored a 5.
Combination Sleepers
4/5
The Twilight has lots of bounce to it, which is helpful for changing positions and a great mattress quality for people who rotate sleep positions throughout the night. That being said, if you occasionally roll onto your side, we’d recommend a medium-firm bed, but stomach and back sleepers should do okay.
Couples
2/5
The Twilight Hybrid is very bouncy, and while some sexually-active couples may like this feature during intimacy, the lack of motion isolation means it’s easier for people to be awakened by their partner’s movements. While it does provide good edge support and cooling, we think couples can find something more accommodating for motion isolation.
Heavy Sleepers
4/5
We think the Sweetnight Twilight hybrid could be great for heavyweight back and stomach sleepers between 230 and 280 pounds, offering them adequate support and comfort. However, though who weigh above this will prefer a mattress made for plus-size sleepers with more support.
Lightweight Sleepers
3/5
Your weight and body type contribute to the amount of sinkage and firmness you experience in a mattress. Lightweight sleepers will not sink into the layers as much as heavier people and will likely find this mattress too firm, with the exception of strict stomach sleepers since they can benefit from a firmer bed.
Average Weight Sleepers
4/5
We think this mattress should work for a good amount of average-weight sleepers, particularly back and stomach sleepers since it will be much too firm for side sleeping. That being said, back sleepers who weigh closer to 130 pounds rather than 230 pounds may not get enough pressure relief to feel comfortable in this position.
Overall Value
3/5
Sweetnight offers an industry-standard deal with their trial and warranty. Plus, it’s a great budget-friendly option for those who want a new mattress but don’t have thousands to spend on something right now. That being said, the quality of the materials won’t be as long-lasting as some more high-end beds.
Our Verdict
The Sweetnight Twilight is an affordable mattress for budget shoppers. This mattress is most beneficial for stomach sleepers, as well as some back sleepers depending on their weight. The addition of bounce could also make this great for combination sleepers who just rotate between their back and stomach.
We wouldn’t recommend this bed to those who sleep on their side since it won’t give enough cushioning for the hip and shoulder. While it has some features we think couples could enjoy, we think it’s not a great mattress for couples in general because of its lack of motion isolation.
