365 nightsWho I’d Recommend the WinkBed For
- Hot sleepers – While the Loom & Leaf does feature some cooling technology, its all-foam design is naturally going to sleep hotter than a hybrid. The WinkBed’s coil unit allows for airflow while its moisture-wicking Tencel™ cover and gel-infused pillow top help keep the surface of the bed cool. This should make it more suitable for hotter sleepers.
- Light to average-weight sleepers – We think lightweight back and stomach sleepers and average-weight sleepers will love the Luxury Firm version of this bed thanks to the balance of pressure relief and support they should get from it.
- Fans of hybrid models – Hybrid fans will likely prefer the WinkBed to the all-foam Loom & Leaf as it provides bounce and zoned support from the innerspring unit and contouring comfort from the gel-infused pillow top.
Who I’d Recommend the Loom & Leaf For
- Shoppers who prefer an all-foam feel – All-foam fans will likely appreciate the gentle cradle, delicious pressure relief, and motion isolation of the Loom & Leaf. Additionally, the lumbar-zoned top memory layer provides a soft yet supportive feel.
- Average to heavyweight sleepers – We think the Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm could be a great choice for average to heavyweight sleepers as its lumbar-zoned gel foam and high-density foam pack a punch in the support department.
- Indecisive shoppers – With its generous 365-night trial period, the Loom & Leaf is perfect for people who need a little extra time getting to know their new bed before making a final decision.
Comparing WinkBed vs. Loom & Leaf: Top Similarities
- Eco-friendly materials – Both brands utilize some eco-friendly materials in their construction. The Loom & Leaf features an organic cotton cover, a natural thistle pulp-derived flame retardant, and foams that replace 30 percent of the polyurethane with renewable soybean and corn oils. The WinkBed has a eucalyptus-derived Tencel™ cover made with raw materials harvested from a Forest Stewardship Council-certified forest. The coils are made using recycled steel, and there’s a natural cotton and rayon fire barrier.
- Multiple firmness levels – The Loom & Leaf offers a Relaxed Firm and Firm model, while the WinkBed has four comfort options to choose from: Softer, Luxury Firm, Firmer, and Plus. This makes them both incredibly versatile beds, suitable for a wide range of sleepers.
- Affordable quality – Both of these beds offer high-quality, durable constructions with lifetime warranties, and we think this makes them great value beds.
Comparing WinkBed vs. Loom & Leaf: Key Differences
- Edge support – While the Loom & Leaf does offer great edge support for an all-foam bed, the WinkBed excels in this area. “The coils surrounding the perimeter of the mattress are extra-reinforced, which I’m a big fan of since I can roll right up to the edge of the bed without losing that supportive feel,” reported our plus-size mattress tester, Sean.
- Motion isolation – WinkBed’s stabilizing gel foam layer does a pretty good job at isolating motion from the coils, but we still experienced some motion transfer on this bed. While it shouldn’t cause too much of a disturbance, we’d recommend the Loom & Leaf for those who are easily disturbed by a restless partner as its all-foam design is better at absorbing movement.
- Shipping – Both beds ship for free to the contiguous U.S. but their delivery methods differ. The WinkBed is delivered to your door compressed and rolled in a box while the Loom & Leaf arrives full-size and will be set up for you. Additionally, Saatva, who makes the Loom & Leaf bed, will also remove your old mattress if you would like. Saatva can arrange freight forwarding to Alaska and Hawaii, but WinkBed does not offer this service.
Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel
Firmness
We rate firmness on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being super soft. Both beds offer multiple firmness options. With the WinkBed you’ll have a choice of Softer, Luxury Firm, Firm, and Plus, and the Loom & Leaf is available as Relaxed Firm or Firm version.
We reviewed the WinkBed Luxury Firm, which we placed at a 6.5, making it medium-firm. We ranked the Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm at a 6, making it slightly softer than the WinkBed but still a medium-firm feel.
Support
Sleepers of all shapes and sizes should be able to find their dream support level with the WinkBed because it comes in four firmness options and has a zoned support system. However, we’re specifically focusing on the Luxury Firm for this comparison, and we think this model best suits lightweight back and stomach sleepers and most average-weight sleepers.
The Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm is likely a good fit for average to heavyweight sleepers, though some heavier sleepers may prefer the Firm.
Feel
The WinkBed’s moisture-wicking Tencel™ cover feels soft and cool to the touch. “The gel-infused foam in the top layer offers pressure relief and a gentle cradle that feels great when I’m sleeping on my side,” Sean said.
The Loom & Leaf is delivered full-size, and we love the soft, breathable organic cotton cover. Our reviewers experienced a soft yet supportive feel from the top memory foam layer, as well as gentle contouring.
Comparing Sinkage and Bounce
Our reviewers advise that both beds should give you minimal sinkage, resulting in a gentle cradle that provides support and comfortable pressure relief. Combination sleepers should have no trouble repositioning on either mattress due to the quick-responding foams and minimal sinkage.
However, while we experienced minimal bounce on the all-foam Loom & Leaf, the hybrid WinkBed did offer some bounce from its coil unit. So, if repositioning is a major concern, we recommend you consider the WinkBed as it’s slightly superior in this area. Couples looking for a bouncy mattress for sex may also prefer the WinkBed for this reason.
Comparing Motion Transfer
Those who share their bed with a partner or pet will likely prefer a mattress with good motion isolation.
While the WinkBed performed well in this category, especially considering that it has a coil unit, the all-foam Loom & Leaf was the winner here. “The WinkBed might not provide the same level of motion absorption as an all-foam bed but the coils respond individually, which does help to prevent too much movement, so this mattress should still work for most,” reported Sean. “The layer of gel foam above the coils helps to reduce transfer as well.”
The Loom & Leaf’s thick all-foam layers include memory foam that absorbed movement beautifully.
Comparing Cooling
As a hybrid, the WinkBed already has the edge over the all-foam Loom & Leaf when it comes to cooling because the coils allow air to circulate. “The bed feels cool to the touch when you lie on it, thanks to the Tencel™ cover and Euro-pillow top with cooling gel foam,” according to Sean.
However, we can’t disregard the breathable organic cotton cover and gel-infused and aerated foams in the Loom & Leaf that help keep the mattress cool. Additionally, this bed places its denser foams further away from the sleeper, which aids temperature regulation.
While most sleepers should stay temperature-neutral on either mattress, exceptionally hot sleepers may prefer the WinkBed.

WinkBed Construction
All WinkBeds are individually crafted, and this can cause their exact height to vary slightly. However, all of their mattresses are approximately 13.5-inch tall. This bed starts with a moisture-wicking, eucalyptus-derived Tencel™ cover.
- The cover encases a 2-inch quilted Euro top that contains plush, gel-infused Hypersoft Foam. This memory foam alternative is designed to prevent heat from building up, as well as cushion sensitive areas like the shoulders, back, and hips.
- The transition layer features 2.5 inches of stabilizing gel foam that is designed to offer motion isolation.
- The innerspring unit features 8-inch recycled steel coils that are individually wrapped to help reduce motion transfer. This layer features five zones to produce targeted compression and support. The Extra-Edge™ Support System has reinforced coils around the perimeter, offering edge support.
- The base layer has a 1-inch poly foam that should further absorb motion and create a stable foundation for the upper materials.

Loom & Leaf Construction
This 12-inch high Loom & Leaf mattress is shipped to your home full-size rather than compressed in a box. Saatva offers this mattress as either Relaxed Firm or Firm, but we’ll break down the Relaxed Firm construction.
The bed starts with a hypoallergenic cotton cover that is treated with Guardin™ antimicrobial treatment and also contains a natural thistle-derived flame retardant.
- The first layer has 2 inches of memory foam infused with gel to foster cooling. A lumbar-zoned gel memory foam panel offers added support and pressure relief for this potentially sensitive area.
- The second layer’s 2.5 inches of high-density memory foam that contours the sleeper in a gentle cradle for comfort and support.
- The third layer has a 2-inch loft pad that’s slightly more dense than the foam above, which transitions you gently into the base. The firmness of this layer will differ between the Relaxed Firm and Firm variations.
- The base of the mattress features 5.5 inches of dense poly foam that supports the sleeper and helps structure the mattress.
Comparing Company Policies & Price
- Warranty – Both the WinkBed and Loom & Leaf come with lifetime warranties.
- Shipping – The WinkBed is delivered to your door with free bed-in-a-box shipping across the contiguous U.S., but the company does not ship to Alaska or Hawaii. The Loom & Leaf is delivered full-size with free white glove delivery across the contiguous U.S. Freight forwarding can be arranged for people living in Alaska and Hawaii.
- Trial Period – The WinkBed has an industry-standard 120-night trial, while the Loom & Leaf offers a longer 365-night trial.
- Returns – You need to own your WinkBed for at least 30 nights before submitting a return request. The Loom & Leaf can be returned at any point during the 365-night trial for a full refund, less a processing fee.
- Price – The Loom & Leaf is the more expensive mattress of the two. This is somewhat surprising since hybrid mattresses are usually more expensive than all-foam models, though in-home delivery does come with your Loom & Leaf purchase.

Final Thoughts
We’re fans of both of these beds, but has one in particular caught your eye? We think either mattress should be a great choice for shoppers seeking a gentle cradle and a versatile medium-firm comfort level.
The WinkBed should appeal to those who sleep hot and anyone looking for a little more bounce and edge support. The Loom & Leaf should work well for shoppers who want minimal motion transfer, enhanced pressure relief, free in-home delivery, and a longer trial period. Price-wise, though, the WinkBed is the cheaper of the two.
