120 nightsWho I’d Recommend the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe For
- Hot sleepers – The Aurora Luxe boasts multiple cooling features, including a cool-to-the-touch cover, copper-infused foam, gel-infused foam, and a breathable coil unit. It sleeps so cool that our reviewer Emma actually felt a little too cold, which could be great news for sweaty sleepers.
- Heavyweight side sleepers – We found both the Luxury Firm Aurora Luxe and Medium WinkBed were best suited for light to average-weight sleepers, but our testers did report that the Aurora Luxe hybrid may also suit heavyweight side sleepers. So, if you’re a heavier side sleeper who shares with a lighter partner, this could be a good compromise.
- Shoppers in Alaska or Hawaii – The WinkBed doesn’t deliver outside the contiguous U.S., but Brooklyn Bedding will ship to Alaska and Hawaii for a fee, starting at 125 dollars per mattress.
Who I’d Recommend the WinkBed For
- Euro top fans – If you love the feel of a Euro top, you might just love the WinkBed with its 2-inch tall Euro top that contains gel-infused Hypersoft Foam, offering pressure relief, responsiveness, and contouring.
- Eco-conscious shoppers – The WinkBed isn’t a totally eco-friendly mattress, but it does contain a couple of planet-friendly features. The OEKO-TEX®-certified Tencel cover is made using wood pulp from responsibly managed forests, and recycled steel is used to make the coils in the support layer.
- Shoppers looking for that extra touch – WinkBeds are made-to-order and handmade by skilled craftsmen in the company’s factories in Wisconsin, Texas, Arizona, and Connecticut. If you’re looking for a mattress with extra attention to detail, look no further than the handcrafted WinkBed.
Comparing Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs. WinkBed: Top Similarities
- Multiple firmness options – Both these brands offer the ability to customize your bed with a comfort level that best suits you. Choose from Soft, Medium, or Firm on the Aurora Luxe, and Softer, Luxury Firm, Firmer, or Plus-Size on the WinkBed.
- Edge support – We were impressed by the edge support offered on both beds, which each feature reinforced perimeter coils that should prevent any sagging when sleeping close to the edge.
- Trial period – A 120-night trial period is offered with each of these beds, giving you plenty of time to decide if your new mattress is the one for you.
Comparing Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs. WinkBed: Key Differences
- Bounce – The Aurora Luxe has great bounce, which should appeal to those who love a super responsive surface. The WinkBed’s foam layers dull the bounce from the coil unit somewhat – it has minimal bounce at the surface, but a little more bounce deeper in the bed. However, repositioning should be easy on either bed.
- Motion isolation – Despite its high bounce, the Aurora Luxe has fantastic motion isolation, so you shouldn’t feel disturbed by a partner moving around. While we experienced a little more motion transfer on the WinkBed, it shouldn’t be a problem for most sleepers, although super light sleepers may prefer the Aurora Luxe.
- Warranty – The Aurora Luxe comes with a 10-year warranty, while the WinkBed has a much longer lifetime warranty, which may appeal to shoppers who have concerns about the longevity of their new purchase.
Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel
Firmness
Our firmness scale ranges from 1 to 10, with 10 being like sleeping on the floor. The Aurora Luxe is available in Soft, Medium, and Firm options, but we’ve reviewed the Medium, which we rated at 6.5. This is a true medium-firm.
The WinkBed also offers multiple comfort levels – Softer, Luxury Firm, Firmer, and Plus-Size. We’ve reviewed the Luxury Firm, which also came in at 6.5. We think many light to average-weight sleepers may fare well on either model.
Support
Both beds offer exceptional support thanks to their coil units and responsive foams. We think the Luxury Firm version of the WinkBed and the Medium Aurora Luxe should provide great support and pressure relief for light to average-weight stomach sleepers and average-weight back and side sleepers.
We’d recommend a firmer option of either bed for most heavyweight sleepers, for optimal support, while many lightweight sleepers may prefer the Soft Aurora Luxe or Softer WinkBed for a more comfortable level of pressure relief.
Feel
While reviewing the WinkBed, tester Sean reported that the Tencel cover feels cool to the touch and that he experienced lots of pressure relief from the gel-infused Euro top.
Emma tested the Aurora Luxe and shared that the GlacioTex™ cooling cover does a great job, saying it really does feel cold to the touch. Just like with the WinkBed, we experienced great pressure relief on the Aurora Luxe, along with exceptional support.
Comparing Sinkage and Bounce
We experienced minimal sinkage on both the WinkBed and the Aurora Luxe, finding ourselves in a gentle cradle that left us feeling more ‘on top of’ the beds rather than ‘in’ them. If you prefer more sinkage, you could try a plusher option of either bed or look for a memory foam mattress
Mark described the Aurora Luxe as “an incredibly bouncy mattress” while testing it. We didn’t find the same level of bounce on the WinkBed, which offers minimal bounce in the upper layers, but more bounce beneath. However, either model is likely to allow combination sleepers to move around easily due to the bouncy coils and quick-responding materials.
Comparing Motion Transfer
Couples sharing a bed are likely to prefer enhanced motion control that absorbs movement, reducing disruption. “The WinkBed might not provide the same level of motion absorption as an all-foam but the coils respond individually, which does help to prevent too much movement, so this mattress should still work for most,” reported Sean. “The layer of gel foam above the coils also helps to reduce transfer.”
Despite its higher level of bounce, the Aurora Luxe outperformed the WinkBed when it came to minimizing movement, with Emma sharing that it has “superior motion isolation,” thanks to its individually wrapped coils and memory foam transition layer.
Comparing Cooling
Hybrids are known for sleeping cooler than all-foam mattresses as their coil units allow for more airflow, but these beds have gone the extra mile with additional cooling features.
The WinkBed offers a breathable Tencel cover and gel-infused foam, while the Aurora Luxe has a GlacioTex™ cooling cover, heat-conducting copper-infused foam, and gel-infused foam. Though the WinkBed provides good temperature regulation, the Aurora Luxe pulls ahead when it comes to cooling. “Brooklyn Bedding has gone to exceptional lengths to incorporate cooling features in multiple layers of the Aurora Luxe and it’s one of the coolest mattresses that we’ve ever received,” shared Emma.

- The top layer holds 1.5 inches of CopperGel™-infused CopperFlex™ foam that boasts temperature-regulating technology. This hyper-elastic material is designed to be responsive to reduce body impressions.
- The second layer consists of a 2-inch medium-feel Supreme Response Comfort Foam, which offers contouring and bounce.
- The third layer contains a gel swirl memory foam that’s an inch thick and provides further responsiveness and cooling, as well as acting as a transition layer into the sturdy coils beneath.
- The fourth layer utilizes up to 1,032 8-inch Ascension® coils that are individually wrapped to minimize motion transfer. The zoned coils provide extra support where needed and reinforced coils around the perimeter enhance edge support.

WinkBed Construction
Tencel is used inside the cover of this 13.5-inch hybrid mattress, which is a fabric that promotes moisture-wicking and temperature control. This breakdown will discuss the construction of the Luxury Firm version.
- The Euro top holds 2 inches of gel-infused Hypersoft Foam that’s quilted to the Tencel cover. It’s designed to respond quickly to pressure and contour the body.
- The second layer contains 2.5 inches of stabilizing gel foam to minimize motion transfer, as well as ease the sleep into the coil unit. The brand calls this its SleepCalm™ technology.
- The innerspring layer consists of 8-inch steel coils that are individually wrapped. The pocketed design promotes airflow and a deep level of contouring and bounce. This layer also provides zoned support for extra lift in the lumbar area. Extra-Edge™ reinforced coils along the perimeter should prevent sagging at the edges.
- The base creates a sturdy foundation for the entire bed using 1 inch of poly foam.
