Who We Don’t Recommend The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid For:
- Stomach sleepers – We think this Nectar bed may be too soft for stomach sleepers, especially those weighing above 130 pounds. Some stomach sleepers, like those weighing under 130 pounds, may find sufficient support, but the rest should prefer a firmer bed.
- Budget shoppers – Budget shoppers may not like Nectar’s high price point. Although the market holds many more expensive mattresses, this Nectar is far from the most affordable beds, so it may be too much for those shopping on a budget.

The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid is rated 5.5-6.5/10 on our firmness scale, which means it’s close to the middle of the firmness range. This mid-range firmness should fit many people, but mostly those who prefer sleeping on their side and back. According to Stuart, the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid is “really soft on top, but it’s also responsive because of the coils.” However, the way you experience a bed’s firmness and feel depends on your body weight, so average-weight and lightweight people may be the best group. Significantly heavier people and those who prefer sleeping on their stomach may prefer a firmer mattress because this Nectar would allow too much sinkage for their spine to be supported.
How Does It Feel?
This Nectar hybrid has a cool-to-the-touch cover that feels plush and somewhat stretchy. Lying on the bed, you can quickly feel the pushback and support coming from the lower foam layers and the coil unit. When you press it with your fingers, you can feel the gentle sinking. If you use your fist, you can push all the way to the base. However, you’ll also notice how quickly the bed bounces back, so you’re unlikely to bottom out to the coils. “It felt like I was being cradled really gently without sinking too far into the mattress.” Stuart pointed out.
What We Like About the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid
- Excellent motion isolation – Although this isn’t an all-foam mattress, it offers excellent motion isolation thanks to its several foam layers. As Stuart mentioned, “Jump for joy on your new bed as much as you want while your partner sleeps soundly.”
- Different foams – This hybrid mattress has three different foam layers between the cover and the coils. This provides versatility and allows the bed to adapt to different body shapes in various positions. We also think this is what helps isolate motion.
- Spinal support – The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid has 8-inch individually wrapped coils that support the spine in alignment, allowing for a healthy sleeping posture in different positions. In addition, the base layer supports the upper layers and prevents them from collapsing under the weight. Lying on this bed, Stuart said he felt “well-supported but also able to sink into the foams.”
Our Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid Complaints
- The higher price – Nectar is a well-known brand that makes luxury mattresses from premium materials. This hybrid is nothing less, which is reflected in its price, making it potentially too expensive for budget shoppers.
- Not firm enough for some stomach sleepers – This hybrid bed delivers many benefits to sleepers, but our reviewers shared that “if you’re a frequent stomach sleeper, it’s possible that this bed feels a little too soft for your back and hips.” Heavier stomach sleepers may feel their hips sinking in a bit too much due to the bed’s mid-range firmness and plush foam layers.
Testing the Nectar Premier Hybrid Copper Mattress: How it Performed
Stuart and Liz tested this bed in various sleeping positions to evaluate if it would fit back, side, and stomach sleepers and to what degree. Although its firmness is rather versatile, the bed still lacks enough support for stomach sleepers weighing over 150 pounds. In addition, the team tested for edge support, motion isolation, support, bounce, cooling, and pressure relief to paint a better picture of how this hybrid performs and whether it would be a good match for you.

Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
The Premier Copper Hybrid is a newer mattress from Nectar, and the brand doesn’t yet offer any precise information on how much weight the bed can handle. However, based on the bed’s firmness and construction, we’d say that those who weigh up to 275 pounds would be a good match. Sleepers who weigh more can still safely sleep on this Nectar, but they’d likely find it too soft and may even bottom out.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – We think this Nectar mattress should feel good for side sleepers weighing under 130 pounds. The hips and shoulders sink in just enough, but the spine stays straight.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight side sleepers should find the same balance of support and pressure relief. However, after Stuart tested the bed, we think those closer to 200 pounds may sink deeper.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy sleepers will sink deeper into the foam layers, but they should find sufficient support in the mattress’s coil unit, which allows the spine to stay in a healthy posture.

- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight back sleepers may feel like more “on” the mattress than “in” it, but they shouldn’t lack any pressure relief in the lumbar area thanks to the bed’s softer nature.

Nectar works to ensure that no pressure buildup will keep you up at night by incorporating multiple foam layers before the coil unit. “It cradles you in kind of a hammock-like feel,” according to Liz. The bed’s quilted cooling cover and 2 inches of memory foam underneath hug your body just enough to relieve pressure. The bed responds to your movements and adapts to your body in different positions to prevent pressure from building up on the shoulders, hips, and knees. This is further complemented by the bed’s mid-range firmness.
Is the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid Good for Pain Relief?
The softer feel of the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid should help relieve pain in the shoulders, hips, and knees. In some cases, it can also help with lower back pain as it cradles the area without letting it sink too deeply. However, this very much depends on your body shape and weight. This is a hybrid, so the coils help keep your body aligned in various positions.
Back Pain
We think people with back pain should like how Nectar’s first foam layers contour the back to relieve pressure and pain. The 2-inch memory foam hugs the body, but the coils give this bed structure to keep the spine straight.
Hip Pain
People struggling with hip pain usually prefer sleeping on their backs. The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid should relieve the tension in this area by contouring the hips without letting them sink too deep into the mattress.
Shoulder Pain
We think sleepers with shoulder pain should avoid sleeping on their side. Those who prefer sleeping on the side should like how this bed contours the shoulders and hips to prevent pain and pressure build-up.

The coils are individually wrapped, so they move separately, which means you should get just the right support in the areas where you need it the most.
Nectar’s support system helps the spine stay aligned at all times, promoting healthy sleep posture to reduce back pain. In addition, this mattress has a sturdy base layer that supports all the layers above to prevent sagging. However, its mid-range firmness may not be enough to support stomach sleepers, especially those weighing more than average. Nonetheless, you can try if you’re curious about it, and, as Stuart said, “You can take advantage of their return policy if it isn’t the best fit for you.”

The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid does an excellent job at isolating motion, especially considering it’s a hybrid model. As Stuart pointed out, “Many hybrids struggle here, but because of the soft layers of foam also included in this mattress’ construction, Nectar took care of it.”
As you can see in the video review, the bottle barely moves when Stuart tosses a weight on the other side of the bed. This is because the foams help isolate movement so you don’t feel your partner tossing and turning. Furthermore, the coils are individually wrapped to move independently, which makes it less likely any movement can be transferred from one side of the bed to the other.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling

This hybrid mattress has a dual-action cooling cover with copper fibers that allow it to remain cool to the touch throughout the night. As Stuart pointed out, the cooling sensation was the first thing he noticed when he tested the bed. Apart from the cooling cover, this Nectar also has coils that allow airflow to prevent the foam layers from overheating. As a result, the bed is breathable and suitable for hot sleepers and those living in warmer climates.

Although the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid has coils, we don’t think it’s as bouncy as other hybrids. This mattress has layers of foam on top of the coils that absorb the movement. As such, it’s not very bouncy. While there isn’t as much bounce as other mattresses out there, we don’t think you would feel stuck in the foam layers.
Edge Support

As Stuart pointed out, this bed has excellent edge support. The coils in the support layer go from one edge to the other, so sleepers can use the entire surface of the mattress. You should feel nicely supported along the edges, which is particularly important for couples and single individuals who like to spread out.

Construction: What’s Inside Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid?
The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid is 14 inches tall and has five layers, a quilted cooling cover with copper fibers, and a shift-resistant base cover that prevents it from moving. The copper fibers give this bed its name while also helping with temperature regulation and cooling. In addition, the cover has an antimicrobial finish, so it’s resistant to dust mites and mold. Although it’s not removable, spot-cleaning should be simple enough depending on the stain.
- Below the cover is the 2-inch contouring memory foam that conforms to your body and cushions pressure points like the shoulders, hips, and knees.
- Further down is the 2-inch ActiveLift HD layer made of ultra-supportive foam that supports the body and helps keep your spine aligned.
- The transition layer has an inch of premium foam that adds some bounce for easy repositioning while also acting as a transition to the coil unit.
- The innerspring layer has 8-inch individually wrapped coils that act as the main support for your body and the foam layers above. The edge-to-edge coils respond to your curves while providing excellent edge support.
- The final layer has an inch of foam that adds support and stability to the upper layers.
The lower cover is shift-resistant to prevent the mattress from sagging and sliding on the bed foundation. In addition, it has handles to make it easy to move the Nectar should you want to change foundations.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Premier Copper Hybrid is shipped in a box, which means it’s also compressed and rolled. Once it arrives, remove it from the box and carefully remove the plastic wrapping. The mattress isn’t as cumbersome when in a box, but it may still be too heavy to carry without someone’s help. For this reason, it’s best to have a friend or family member help you carry it from your doorstep to the bedroom. If not, you can opt for White Glove Delivery for an additional fee.
Once you unpack it, you may notice some off-gassing as the mattress decompresses to its full size. This smell should dissipate, however, within a day or two.
