Why the Helix Midnight Earned Best Mail-Order Mattress Overall
If you’ve never purchased a mail-order mattress, the Helix Midnight is a great launching point. It’s a hybrid bed whose construction nails the versatility sweet spot: “soft, but not too soft,” according to our tester Emma, who also felt “really comfortable and evenly supported.”
Though Helix markets this bed to side sleepers, its responsive feel should suit multiple sleeping positions. Our testers especially enjoyed it on their sides and backs. Because of its broad appeal, attractive price, and established popularity, the Midnight earned the top spot on this list.
What’s the Helix Midnight Made Of?
The Helix Midnight has five internal layers plus a top cover, and stands 11.5 inches tall.
Its cover feels soft and welcoming to the touch. If you’re someone who sleeps quite hot, you can pay extra to swap it with a GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover that draws in and dissipates warmth.
The first comfort layer is made of Memory Plus Foam, a Helix-branded material that contours to your body’s curves and takes pressure off of key areas. Beneath it is a springier layer of Helix Responsive Foam, and beneath that is a slightly firmer layer of the same material.
At that point, you’ve reached the Midnight’s coil unit. It consists of up to 1,000 pocketed springs that compress individually (instead of being interconnected). These springs are also stronger at the long edges of the bed to prevent the sides from dipping too low.
Finally, at the base of the mattress is a sturdy layer of DuraDense foam.
What We Liked
- Cozy yet responsive – Underneath the initial layers of pressure-relieving foams, the Helix Midnight has a pleasing amount of bounce to it. “It definitely has good response and bounce,” remarked Emma. “I can move and adjust positions, no problem.”
- Strong edge support along the sides – Even though the reinforced coils don’t encircle the entire mattress, they’re robust enough that Emma was impressed. “We don’t feel like we’re gonna fall off the bed, even right up on the edge of the mattress,” she said.
- Budget-friendly price – A good mail-order bed should tempt you with its construction, the convenience of the buying process, and its price. Emma called the Helix Midnight “a killer value for the money.”
Potential Drawbacks
- Too soft for stomach sleepers – When she laid down on her stomach, Emma wasn’t as comfortable as she was on her side or back. “I’m feeling my hips sink into the mattress just a little bit,” she said. “I’m still decently comfortable, but I might suggest a firmer mattress for exclusive stomach sleepers.”
- Not for memory foam-lovers – “If you want that old-school memory foam feel, this bed may not be for you,” cautioned Emma. The Helix Midnight is a hybrid that will still cradle your pressure points, but it won’t sink very deep or feel like an encompassing hug.
Customer Reviews of the Helix Midnight
The Helix Midnight rates 4.5 stars out of 5 on Helix’s website. The main negative is that reviewers tend to find it too soft for their liking and feel as though they’re sinking. But overall, users say they’re getting a great nights’ sleep and some pain relief.

Why the Nectar Earned Best Cheap Mail-Order Mattress
Readers should note that we use the word “cheap” here to mean “priced exceptionally well,” not “cheaply made.” Since its memorable debut on the mail-order mattress scene, Nectar has continued to impress us across the board.
These beds tend to beat out the competition in terms of price while maintaining their commitment to high-quality materials, in particular their CertiPUR-US® certified foams. As our lead reviewer Julia put it: “Their policies are stellar, and the price point is arguably hard to beat. Their competitors really could take some notes.”
What’s the Nectar Mattress Made Of?
This is an all-foam mattress with three distinct layers that each perform a unique function, from pressure relief to stability. It stands 12 inches tall and has a breathable, heat-spurning top cover, as well as a lower cover that keeps the internal layers from sliding around.
Its first 2-inch foam layer is made of gel memory foam. This layer offers the most contouring and is the plushest of the three, meant to relieve pressure from your burdened joints.
The next 3-inch layer is made of a more responsive foam that offers a bit of bounciness and increased support—an important ingredient for healthy spinal alignment.
At the bottom of the mattress, a 7-inch layer of ActiveSupport foam functions as a stabilizing base.
What We Liked
- Palpable pressure relief – This memory foam mattress has a medium to medium-firm feel that delivers immediate pressure relief by contouring to your curves. “With the topmost foam layers made for pressure relief and responsiveness, I really like how this molds around the body,” said Julia.
- All-foam means motion isolation – “Since these layers are pretty dense, they’re able to stifle the feeling of motion pretty well,” Julia noted. “If you sleep with a partner and move around a lot, this helps ensure you’re not shaking them awake.”
- Great price and policies – According to Julia, “Nectar’s policies are some of the best in the industry, if not the best. And I’m talking free shipping and returns, a year to try out the mattress, and a lifetime warranty should something go awry.”
Potential Drawbacks
- It won’t cool you down very much – Unfortunately, the Nectar’s lack of springs and cutting-edge cooling tech means that it isn’t a great fit for hot sleepers. “Foam simply isn’t going to sleep as cool as a hybrid mattress,” Julia said.
- Not for stomach sleepers or plus-sized folks – Both stomach sleepers and larger people need a lot of support from their beds, and Julia thought the Nectar simply wouldn’t cut it for these demographics, especially over a period of long-term use.
Customer Reviews of the Nectar
With thousands of reviews on Nectar’s website, the Nectar mattress has an average 4.8 out of 5 stars. One common customer complaint about the Nectar mattress is its longer-than-average break-in period, while many customers praise its excellent value and comfort once fully settled.

Why the Nolah Original Earned Best Mail-Order Mattress for Side Sleepers
The Nolah Original prioritizes pressure relief, which is great news for side sleepers. Those who sleep on their side need an especially plush surface underneath their shoulders and hips, which can otherwise become sore as focal points for pressure.
Our tester Stuart confirmed that this mail-order foam bed feels wonderful when you’re stretched out on your side. “These foams really take the strain off my hips and my shoulders,” he said. “Nolah should excel in providing the pressure relief [side sleepers] need.”
What’s the Nolah Original Made Of?
The Nolah Original has four layers that add up to 10 inches of height. Its moisture-wicking Tencel™ cover starts the construction on a cool, breathable note, leading into 2 inches of the brand’s proprietary AirFoam™ material.
The AirFoam™ in this bed reportedly relieves pressure relief up to four times more effectively than traditional memory foam, and also outlasts it in terms of longevity. Nolah also claims that this material is 100% temperature neutral, and therefore less prone to overheating.
Underneath is 1 inch of bouncy, adaptable high-resilience foam, as well as a 7-inch high-density foam foundation. Even this thick base layer is breathable to prevent the buildup of unwanted heat.
What We Liked
- Foams that resist body impressions – The AirFoam™ in the Nolah Original molds to the body each time you lie down, but it doesn’t retain the dents that your body makes. Per Stuart, “The foams in this bed respond quickly to pressure … It takes just a moment to pop back up.”
- Very little motion transfer – The motion isolation on this bed is excellent, according to Stuart: “There was almost no motion transfer at all … super minimal.”
- Solid edge support for an all-foam model – “If your spouse is taking more than their share of their bed, you can scooch onto the edge and you shouldn’t feel much comfort difference,” Stuart remarked.
Potential Drawbacks
- Not enough support for stomach sleepers – When he laid down on his belly, Stuart wasn’t as satisfied with the Nolah Original. “This may be my least favorite position,” he said. “I’m not quite getting the support I need in my hips. If you’re a solo stomach sleeper, you might want to look into a different option.”
- It’s very soft – Nolah is known for the plushness of their beds, and this all-foam model is particularly soft. “This foam is a little bit softer than some of the other foam options out there,” said Stuart. If you prefer a springier or firmer feel, then a hybrid will probably suit you better.
Customer Reviews of the Nolah Original
On Nolah’s website, the Nolah Original has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. Some customers have noted that the Nolah Original mattress may have less edge support, yet many customers praise its superior pressure relief as a significant advantage.

Why the DreamCloud Premier Earned Best Luxury Mail-Order Mattress
The DreamCloud Premier represents a step up in softness and luxury from the original DreamCloud. At 14 inches tall, it’s a noticeably thick mattress once it’s been unpacked—which makes it all the more impressive that it comes to you in the mail.
“If you really want to feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud, this mattress does the trick. The top layers help relieve pressure in all the right places,” said our tester Emma. She and our lead reviewer Julia were charmed by its fancier add-ons, such as its cashmere blend cover and pillowy Euro top.
What’s the DreamCloud Premier Made Of?
The DreamCloud Premier achieves 14 inches in height with five internal layers. Its cover is made from a memorably soft cashmere blend and stitched with a delightful cloud pattern.
Underneath is Euro top quilted with 2 inches of foam: 1 inch of pressure-relieving memory foam, and 1 inch of slightly more supportive plush foam.
A 2.5-inch layer of transition foam follows. This foam buffers you from the coil unit below, and also encourages neutral spinal alignment with its medium-firm feel.
The 8.5-inch coils in the Premier’s spring unit are individually wrapped to prevent too much motion transfer, and reinforced along the edges. They stand on top of a 1-inch foam base.
What We Liked
- A level-up in plushness – The Premier feels more cushiony than its predecessor, the standard DreamCloud. “This mattress is a slightly upgraded version of the original,” said Julia. “The extra padding works great for those with sensitive joints.”
- Support is fully present – Even though this model amps up the softness of its surface, “it doesn’t sacrifice support for the extra cushion,” said Julia. Her lumbar region felt “A-OK on the Premier” when she was on her side and back.
- Luxurious touches – From the tufted lower cover to the cheerful cloud pattern on top, the little details on this mattress add up to a luxurious experience. “I would definitely need to shout out the cashmere cover. It’s a small detail that adds major comfort and luxury to the mattress,” said Emma.
Potential Drawbacks
- Edge support suffers when you’re sitting – “Laying at the edge [of the bed] you are supported, but there is major sinking while sitting, and I don’t feel very stable,” said Julia.
- Not supportive enough for people who sleep on their bellies – When she tested the mattress on her stomach, Emma noted that she “might prefer a firmer surface.” Her hips sank into the Premier a bit too much for comfort.
Customer Reviews of the DreamCloud Premier
Coming in at 4.5 out of 5 stars on DreamCloud’s site, the DreamCloud Premier receives a majority of positive reviews. Customers praise the DreamCloud Premier mattress for its luxury feel, but some have noted that it may not be the best choice for those on a tighter budget.

Why the Saatva Classic Earned Best Mail-Order Mattress for Back Pain
The Saatva Classic combats back pain with a host of features, including a cozy Euro top, two coil systems, specialized lumbar support, and reinforced foam around the edges. These elements work together to provide the right amount of bolstering for proper spinal alignment, as well as the pressure relief that soothes sore spots.
“I [have] to shout out the tons of lumbar support. If you need a mattress that’s got your back, you need the Saatva Classic,” said our tester Stuart. Lead Reviewer Julia agreed, saying that this mattress “does a great job of supporting your lower back, thanks to the dual coils.”
What’s the Saatva Classic Made Of?
The Saatva Classic is available in two thicknesses: 11.5 or 14.5 inches. You can also choose between three firmness levels: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm.
Each Classic beings with an organic cotton cover that dresses a 3-inch Euro pillow top. The Lumbar Zone® Quilting in the pillow top—which renders it firmer under your lower back—is just the beginning of this bed’s obsession with spinal support.
Under the pillow top is a strip of high-density memory foam that targets the lower back specifically. It leads into the Classic’s first coil unit, which features short coils that compress easily and individually with your body’s movements. These springs are stronger in the lower-back region (the center third of the mattress) as well.
The base coil unit underneath has interconnected springs for extra durability. They also integrate a Lumbar Zone® Active Spinal Wire that wraps around the same middle-third region for enhanced lumbar support.
To stabilize its edges, the Saatva Classic also has rails around its perimeter made of high-density foam.
What We Liked
- It’s got very broad appeal – “This is a bed that’s super approachable for all sleep types, whether you’re a side sleeper, back, or combination of these,” said Julia. “Stomach sleepers, please opt for the Luxury Firm or Firm—you’re gonna need a firmer mattress to protect your lower back from misalignment.”
- A lovely support/comfort split – Our review team thought that the Saatva Classic hit a great ratio of plushness to support. Julia pointed out the “nice cushioning from the pillow top” while also mentioning that her midsection felt “perfectly lifted” by the bed.
- White-glove delivery with no box – Many mail-order mattresses have an all-foam or hybrid construction, which makes them easier to compress and ship. Saatva flips the market on its head by providing an innerspring that is delivered and set up for consumers free of charge—no compression needed.
Potential Drawbacks
- It’s bouncy, so motion carries – “If you need a lot of motion absorption or more of a cradling feel, this might not be the bed for you,” Stuart warned.
- No notable cooling tech – If you really need a lot of cooling components in your mattress, the Saatva Classic might not cut it for you. “I wouldn’t say this is specifically a cooling mattress,” said Julia. “I felt like my body temperature was maintained throughout the duration of testing.”
Customer Reviews of the Saatva Classic
The Saatva Classic rates 4.8 stars out of 5 on Saatva’s website. One negative aspect customers found with the Saatva Classic mattress is that it may feel too firm for some users, while a notable advantage is its high-quality materials, providing durability and support.

Why the WinkBed Earned Best Firm Mail-Order Mattress
Just because a mattress is compressed into a box doesn’t mean it’s soft and malleable once unpacked. The WinkBed is an example of a mail-order mattress that can be quite firm—depending on the model you order. You’ll have a choice between Softer, Luxury Firm, Firmer, and Plus models.
When testing this bed, our reviewer Sean appreciated the “ample support, from the zoned coils to the reinforced edges.” He also commented on its reassuring firmness: “I am a heavier sleeper, so I want to feel like my mattress is sturdy and won’t sag too much. Luckily, the WinkBed is ideal for my body type.”
What’s the WinkBed Made Of?
The WinkBed stands approximately 13.5 inches high. At the top is a botanically derived Tencel™ cover that permits cooling airflow and wicks away moisture. It outfits the surface of the bed’s Euro pillow top, which is quilted with plush foams for pressure relief.
Between the pillow top and the bed’s spring unit, there are additional foam layers that cut down on motion transfer and target the lumbar spine with a buoying feel.
The WinkBed’s coils are zoned into regions with greater or lesser resistance, depending on the area of the body they’re supporting. The springs are also stronger around the edges of the mattress.
What We Liked
- Awesome choice for couples – According to Sean, “[The] WinkBed should be a good option for couples, thanks to its sturdy construction and reinforced edge coils that maximize sleep space.”
- Lots of options – With four distinct firmness levels to choose from—one of which is intended for plus-sized sleepers—the WinkBed is a highly customizable mattress. “People of all shapes and sizes and sleep habits should have something that caters to their direct needs,” said Sean.
- Multifaceted cooling – The WinkBed boasts “Triple Layer Heat Disperse™ technology,” a term that refers to its breathable cover, the gel-infused foam inside its pillow top, and the air that flows freely through its coils. “From the start, the bed feels cool to the touch when you lie on it,” confirmed Sean.
Potential Drawbacks
- Springs mean some motion transfer – “This mattress might not provide the same level of motion absorption as an all-foam bed,” Sean cautioned.
- Not a lot of sinkage – “People who like to feel like they are sleeping in [the layers of] the bed may feel more like they are floating on top of this mattress,” said Sean.
Customer Reviews of the WinkBed
On the WinkBeds site, the WinkBed earns a 4.8 out of 5 stars. One drawback of the WinkBed mattress is that it might be too expensive for budget-conscious shoppers, but overall it offers excellent durability and customizable firmness options.

The Puffy Cloud is a mail-order mattress that could be a boon to allergy-prone sleepers. Its hypoallergenic cover should prevent dust mites, debris, and other irritants from gaining too much ground. The cover is also stain-resistant and easily washable, thanks to a zippered design.
As for its feel, our lead reviewer Julia characterized it as a classic medium-firm memory foam bed, and highlighted its capacity for pressure relief and motion isolation.
What’s the Puffy Cloud Made Of?
The Puffy Cloud is 10 inches high and has five key layers. The first is its “Cloud Cover,” which is hypoallergenic and removable for deeper cleans as needed.
Underneath is a 2-inch layer of Cooling Cloud™ Foam—a material that simultaneously relieves pressure and endeavors to redirect excess heat.
Next is a 2-inch layer of Climate Comfort™ Foam. Geared towards even more temperature regulation, this proprietary foam fights back against humidity.
The supportive foundation of the mattress consists of a 6-inch foam base layer. The high-density foam provides enough resistance to encourage healthy spinal alignment while also holding the rest of the bed stable.
Finally, a lower textured cover prevents the Puffy Cloud from moving around on your frame.
What We Liked
- Soft top, firmer core – Rather than being entirely cloud-like, this mattress has a firmer feel than you might expect after its initial comfort layer. “It is most definitely on the supportive side, but not at all rigid or allowing tension to build up,” said Julia.
- Well-suited to side sleepers – “For side sleepers, the excellent spine alignment and pressure relief alone are enough to make me recommend this bed to y’all,” Julia commented. Although its foundation felt firm, she enjoyed how the upper foams cradled her hips and shoulders.
- It dampens motion – Julia thought the Puffy’s motion-isolation powers could be “helpful for couples.” As an all-foam bed, it’s very adept at containing movement.
Potential Drawbacks
- Not supportive enough for heavy folks – Julia was doubtful that the Puffy Cloud would feel robust enough for larger people. “Without coils, the firm feel alone may not be enough support for plus-size sleepers,” she said.
- Unimpressive edge support – The sides of the Puffy Cloud didn’t fully pass muster when pressure was applied. “The edge support is kind of meh, which isn’t ideal if you sleep at the edge or need the mattress edge for mobility purposes,” Julia cautioned.
Customer Reviews of the Puffy Cloud
The Puffy Cloud rates 4.9 out of 5 on Puffy’s website. Customers often praise the Puffy Cloud mattress for its plush comfort and excellent motion isolation, but some have mentioned it might be too soft for those who prefer a firmer feel.

Why the Bear Elite Hybrid Earned Best Hybrid Mail-Order Mattress
The Bear Elite Hybrid is, well, a hybrid mattress. It combines cushioning foams with durable coils and arrives by mail in one of three different firmnesses. It also features a cover made with Celliant® fiber, which can allegedly help the body to recover after a workout or a day of activity.
“It’s got the best of both worlds,” said our tester Stuart. “It’s got a familiar mattress feeling with plushness in the cover and foam layers, but quick response and support from the springs.” Stuart is so fond of this bed that he spoke about it for our roundup of best hybrid mattresses, too.
What’s the Bear Elite Hybrid Made Of?
The Bear Elite Hybrid is 14 inches thick and has five layers, including its notable cover.
You can order the bed in Firm, Medium, or Soft
The cover utilizes both Celliant® fiber and Phase Change Material (PCM) to keep the bed’s surface cool and cozy. Celliant® is a performance textile that reputedly transforms body heat into infrared energy, which can in turn boost your circulation and provide your cells with more oxygen.
PCM is made of molecules that absorb heat as they transition from solid to liquid, thereby siphoning away excess warmth from your body.
As if that wasn’t enough cooling, the layer of pressure-relieving memory foam beneath the cover is copper-infused. This element guards against too much warmth as well as unwanted germs.
Under the memory foam is a layer of firmer transitional foam that segues into the mattress’s spring unit. There, individually pocketed coils are sorted into distinct zones, including one that bolsters the lumbar region specifically. The springs along the edges of the bed are also reinforced for additional support on the sides.
At the very bottom, a layer of high-density foam serves as the mattress’s foundation.
What We Liked
- Targeted support from the springs – Stuart especially enjoyed the zoned springs in the Bear Elite Hybrid. “Sleepers with back, hip, or shoulder pain will love the zoned coil system,” he said. “It’s built to relieve pressure in the areas you sleep on and support the areas that need a little extra boost, specifically the lumbar area.”
- It’s extremely cool – “The cooling was immediately noticeable as I lied down on the bed,” said Stuart. “I’m pretty sure that it would do a good job of keeping anyone cool throughout the night.”
- Strong edges – Stuart felt that he could “really take advantage of the entire surface of the bed,” thanks to the sturdier coils along its perimeter.
Potential Drawbacks
- Not for cold sleepers – One of our testers, Sydney, doesn’t usually overheat when she sleeps. She found the Bear Elite Hybrid to be a smidge too cold for her.
- Excessively plush for stomach sleepers – Stuart felt comfortable in all three of the sleeping positions when testing this bed, but stomach-sleeping was his least favorite. “The pillow top may still be a little plusher than hardcore stomach sleepers prefer,” he said.
Customer Reviews of the Bear Elite Hybrid
According to Bear’s website, the Bear Elite scores about 4.5 out of 5 stars. Some customers find the Bear Elite Hybrid mattress too firm for their liking, but it receives praise in its reviews for its advanced cooling technology and pressure relief.

Why the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Earned Best Cooling Mail-Order Mattress
The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe packs an amazing number of cooling features into its construction. We’re talking GlacioTex™ fibers in the cover, springs that welcome airflow, and foams made with phase change material, copper, and gel.
“It’s one of the coolest sleeping mattresses that we’ve ever received,” said our tester Emma. She and our lead reviewer, Julia, were both struck by just how chilled-out they felt in this mail-order bed.
What’s the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Made Of?
The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe has six layers (including its cover), and sits at 13 inches tall.
The cover starts the cooling game off strong with GlacioTex™ fibers that can attract and dissipate heat. Underneath is a 1.5-inch layer of CopperFlex™ foam—a proprietary foam that combines pressure-relieving properties with springy responsiveness.
In addition to copper, you’ll find phase change material inside this foam. This technology efficiently takes in heat as the molecules inside of it change their state of matter, leading to a noticeably cool surface.
Next is a layer of Supreme Response Comfort Foam for enhanced contouring. Then, depending on the firmness level you order, there’s a layer of gel swirl memory foam or a layer of firmer VariFlex™ transition foam.
In the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe’s spring unit, zoned coils push back against different areas of the body with varying amounts of resistance for targeted support. They rest on a high-density foam foundation.
What We Liked
- Superior cooling – It can’t be overstated: This is one cool bed. Julia and Emma both found it to be immediately cool to the touch and were at no risk of overheating during testing.
- Lots of support – The Aurora Luxe’s hybrid design results in a pleasant, buoying mattress that offers support across various sleep positions. “My spine feels fantastic in every position. It’s aloft but not too much, very midline,” said Julia. “On my stomach, this bed provides the perfect amount of support to keep me level,” said Emma.
- Bounce and responsiveness – Even the foams in this bed are bouncy. During testing, Julia noted that “springback is excellent, pretty much instantaneous” when she pressed on and lied on top of the mattress’s surface.
Potential Drawbacks
- It’s a tad firm – Julia worried that lightweight sleepers would find the Aurora Luxe a bit too hard. Though the first comfort layers do sink in a bit, she thought they wouldn’t provide enough cushioning for this demographic.
- Edge support falters when sitting – Although she felt secure when lying down on the edges of the bed, Julia didn’t feel as stable while sitting.
Customer Reviews of the Aurora Luxe
On Brooklyn Bedding’s site, the Aurora Luxe has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. Customers praise the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress for its advanced cooling features, but some have mentioned that it is relatively expensive compared to other options.

Why the Layla Earned Best Mail-Order Foam Mattress
The Layla mattress is foam all the way through, but it switches up its feel between sides so that you effectively have access to two different beds: a soft one and a firmer one. With one flip, you can change up your experience of the mattress.
According to our tester Stuart, “The soft side of the mattress has a more swaddling feel, and [it’s] definitely more plush … On the firm side I felt a little more on the mattress.” Both he and his fellow tester Liz were charmed by the Layla’s flippable design and its cradling foams.
What’s the Layla Mattress Made Of?
The Layla is 10.5 inches tall and has four internal layers between its top and bottom cooling covers.
Starting from the softer side, you’ll find a layer of plush copper-gel memory foam. The copper inside the foam contributes to cooling and antimicrobial protection. According to Layla, this foam also adapts to your pressure points via “Variable Support,” firming up around zones that require increased pushback.
Next is a layer of max airflow support Foam, which has been cut with channels to permit air movement and zoned for the right amount of pressure relief across various regions of the body. Underneath, a layer of support core foam absorbs motion and stabilizes the bed.
It’s followed by another layer of copper-gel memory foam, this time in a firmer feel for those who want to flip the mattress and experience a slightly more bolstering side.
What We Liked
- Flippable construction – Both testers had a fun time flipping the Layla and experimenting its dual firmness levels. “The versatility and the option to be able to choose between firm and soft is amazing,” said Liz.
- Cozy swaddling – Even on the firm side, you should feel a comforting amount of cradling from this all-foam mail-order bed. “I really like sleeping on my back, and I noticed that I definitely felt cradled by this mattress on both sides,” said Stuart. “I love the soft side for its deeper cradle,” Liz commented.
- Great motion isolation – “Feel free to wiggle all you want, and you’re never going to bother your partner while they sleep,” Stuart joked. The foam layers in the Layla handily absorb movement so that ripples don’t carry.
Potential Drawbacks
- Not a bouncy bed – Because it lacks springs, the Layla doesn’t have the kind of bounce that’s helpful when repositioning. “Particularly on the soft side, it took a little more effort to move around and change positions as I slept,” said Stuart.
- Stomach sleepers probably need more support – According to Stuart, “This mattress is great for back and side sleepers, but may be a little too soft for stomach sleepers. Their hips and lower back may sink in too much to sleep comfortably.”
Customer Reviews of the Layla
On the Layla site, the Layla has an overall 4.5 out of 5 stars. One potential drawback of the Layla Original mattress is that its flippable design might not be as convenient for customers who prefer a fixed firmness, but it provides versatile comfort options with both soft and firm sides to choose from.

Reasons to Order a Mattress by Mail
Now you know which brands should work best for different needs. Why should this matter to you, though, and what makes ordering a mattress through the mail more desirable than purchasing a bed at a traditional mattress store?
Let’s take a look at some of the benefits.
Convenience via Home Delivery
One of the biggest draws of buying a mattress online is convenience. Customers can have their new bed delivered by mail right to their door, and may even be able to have the company set up their new product or remove their old mattress for free. Not to mention the easy comfort of shopping from home in pajamas!
Generous Trial Periods
As the mail-order market grows, mattress companies have become more competitive in their offerings. Many brands now offer extended mattress trial periods, sometimes up to a full year. This allows shoppers to get acquainted with the bed in a home setting rather than lying on a bed in a store for a couple of minutes before dropping thousands of dollars on a purchase.
Budget-Friendly Options
Many companies offer standard models with inexpensive materials to reduce costs. Other brands are dedicated specifically to creating budget beds that won’t break the bank. Companies like Amazon have recently gotten into the mail-order mattress market, making even more wallet-friendly products available to shoppers everywhere.
Affordable Luxury Brands
Simple construction isn’t the only thing that’s cheaper online; lots of luxury mattresses are sold at reduced costs, too. By cutting out the expense of brick-and-mortar stores, many companies are able to offer higher quality mattresses at a fraction of the price. This should allow shoppers of all kinds to partake in a luxury bed experience without exorbitant costs.
No Overbearing Salespeople
Many clerks in an actual mattress store are on commission, so they may become quite pushy when trying to make a sale. When shopping on the web, there are no salespeople trying to convince you to make a purchase. That doesn’t mean you’ll be going it completely alone as many companies offer chat representatives to guide you through the process.
Mail-Order Mattress FAQs
Can you return a mail-order mattress?
Most mail-order mattresses can be returned for free or for a nominal fee. In some cases, exchanges can be made for a different model that might better suit the customer’s needs. Many companies will help you return your mattress by picking up the bed and recycling or donating it.
Do mail-order mattresses have warranties?
Yes, most mail-order mattresses should come with a warranty. The industry standard is often 10 years, though some brands might offer extended warranties of 15 to 25 years. Many businesses have begun to back up their mattresses with longer warranties, some lasting an entire lifetime.
Conclusion
If you were nervous about making a mail-order mattress purchase, let this article be your guide and put you at ease. Your bed is a major factor in your life and you should be happy and satisfied with your choice!
Use the above list to give you an idea of which kind of bed should work best for you. Then enjoy your savings, extended warranties, and convenient delivery service.
